A Day Just Like Today

Today has been a typical day in the life of Brayden. Nothing special, but fun nonetheless. Plus, I actually took pictures of our daily activity, so I figured it'd be a good time to post and keep all you family updated. Brayden actually slept in until about 7:45 today - thanks buddy! Then we played with some toys and read some books. Then I made breakfast. I just have to say how proud I've been of myself. I have only eaten cold cereal once in about 2 weeks! (until today) Brayden has been spoiled with eggs, blueberry pancakes, french toast, etc. But, today he got some Gerber oatmeal with peaches and I ate cereal. After cleaning up from breakfast we went out on our daily walk with Sadie. We have the routine down. We all go out, I turn on the sprinkler systems that we have outside, we walk around the neighborhood and then I turn the water off when we get home. Brayden gets all relaxed during the walk, so I just give him a bottle and lay him down for his first nap. None of that is documented through pictures, but the rest of the day gets more exciting anyway. Today we ate lunch, played in the tub, threw a ball for Sadie and then it was time for nap #2. Of course, he doesn't always want it to be nap #2, so I hear him laughing and talking for a while before I go in to find him sitting in his crib. He stands up and gets all excited until I lay him down with a bottle again and now he's out. That's our day so far. Like I said, nothing special, but I love it. Well, I guess that depends on what part of the day we're in, but today I love it.

Sadie's getting tired from chasing the ball in this heat, so ...
she drops it for Brayden instead.
Brayden reaches for it, throws it (with some help)
and then watches Sadie run it back.
Such a pretty puppy!
And a very cute boy!
Here's the not-so-nappy Brayden
The title of this post comes from a song that my Mumsy and Grammy used to sing to me when I was little and I've heard them sing it to Brayden on occasion. It's a pretty soothing song, I'll admit. It puts me to sleep! :D
[Chorus:] Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy. Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry. Sunshine on the water looks so lovely. Sunshine almost always (or all around me) makes me high.
If I had a day that I could give to you, I'd give to you a day just like today. If I had a song that I could sing for you, I'd sing a song to make you feel this way. [chorus]
If I had a tale that I could tell you, I'd tell a talesure to make you smile. If I had a wish that I could wish for you, I'd make a wish for sunshine all the while. [Chorus].
(thanks to Mumsy & leoslyrics.com for all the words!)

That's what I call bargain shopping!

Before we left for Florida, we had a garage sale so that we didn't have to take some of our furniture and random nicknacks. It was a HUGE success! As a whole, the sale made about $600, but some of that was for Preston's mom and cousin. So we got about $500 :D That was now our furniture budget when we got to Florida. I have been thrilled with what we've been able to get on our little budget. So thrilled that I just have to share with everyone :) So here's the pictures & prices so you can get as excited as me about all these craigslist bargains!!

hide-a-bed couch: $100

This was a bit more pricey of a purchase, but they were asking $200, so we still got a good deal :D I LOVE this couch. So comfortable, good lookin, and it's a bed! Awesome.
Radio Flyer rocking horse: $40
This will be Brayden's main birthday present ... Shhh ... don't tell.
High Chair: $10
walker: $20
this was only used twice and their son hated it. So, lucky Brayden gets a practically new one for half the price.
Futon bed/couch: $15

Can you believe it?? 15 BUCKS!!! Equally as unbelievable is that we drove this home on top of our car. . . it was quite the sight.
two bookshelves, a desk and a loveseat: $50

The desk isn't great, but it will work. The bookshelves are is great condition and really sturdy. Plus, they look great with our computer cart (purchased before we left for $10 at Target). The couch is in great shape too, but unfortunately wreaked of smoke until we sprayed it down several times with Vamoose. It really works!

shelves for games: $20
Kitchen table plus some: $85

The table came with 2 leaves and 4 chairs. Plus, she threw in a couple random plastic bins, a rug and a kitchen cabinet.

washer & dryer: $150

They work great and we are happy to have our own :)

Lawn mower: $40

TOTAL FOR EVERYTHING: $510

Now, that's what I call bargain shopping!!

Where has the time gone?

I can't believe how bad I've been at updating our blog!! I've been a bit busy, but that's no excuse. Here's our update in a nutshell ...

Since getting to Florida, we've been busy looking for good deals for the furniture we needed on craigslist. I'm going to do a whole post of what we've bought because I'm so proud of us :D I have all the pictures just waiting to be uploaded. Soon ...

I took a somewhat last minute trip back to Utah to help take pictures for my cousin, Jess's, wedding and stayed for a week to also celebrate my grandpa's 80th birthday.

Preston started school last week. It's going to be busy for him, but it'll be worth it in the end.

We celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary on the 25th!! Go us!! Still in love :D

We have unpacked nearly all our boxes. I think we could count the rest on one hand. Good feeling.

Oh yes, and now my Mumsy is here visiting and helping us to get things set up. Thanks for all the help and "housewarming gifts!"

There's the nutshell :) As a side note, we also got our pictures that my cousins took of us at the beach. The uploading wouldn't work and after trying a few times, I give up for now. BUT, you can check out some cute ones at their photography site :)

We Made It!!

Preston and I rolled in to our new home last night around midnight only to find a house that was probably 90 degrees with no water or electricity. We weren't jazzed about sleeping inside, so we all got back in the car for the night. BUT, we made it nonetheless.

We love our new home!! It's way too hot in Florida, but only for another month or two. Pictures to come!

Look how big my baby is!

Brayden is 7 months old today! Can you believe it? If you answered no, then join the club.

He can stand all by himself so long as he's holding onto something sturdy.

But, it only lasts until he lets go and then ...

DOWN HE GOES!

He sure is cute!
